FAQ about GPS - The team's movements can not be seen on the screen. Push the ”F5” button to refresh the browser (remember to enter the answers again). If this does not work, check whether the team’s GPS device is still working and has signal (see below).
- Do the GPS devices have sufficient power for the game? The battery level must be over 3500. You can check the battery level of a device by logging in on http://game.djeeo.net (see the “GPS HANDLING” section for more information).
- A GPS device has lost its signal. This can happen if the GPS device is taken indoors or if the signal is weak, and will cause the GPS device to loose contact with the satellites temporarily. Wait 5 min. for the GPS device to re-establish contact. If this does not solve the problem, restart or replace the GPS device with another one.
- At times it seems like the GPS devices are slow. Is this possible? GPS devices use a telephone connection, similar to mobile/cellular phones. Insufficient coverage can cause GPS devices to react and function slowly.
- How can I tell whether my GPS device is switched on and connected? You can check the status of the device by logging in on http://game.djeeo.net (see the “GPS HANDLING” section for more information). You can also check the light switches on the GPS device to see if it is connected (see the ”Playbox Guide” for more information).
- Can we use our existing Garmin GPS devices with DJEEO? Unfortunately, Garmin GPS devices are not able to send their positions live (i.e. via the internet) during the game. Our GPS devices are therefore a requirement.
- What is the battery life-time of the GPS devices? A minimum lifetime of 3 years is expected.
- Can my iPhone be used as a GPS device? At present it is not possible to make calls and send GPS signals simultaneously.
FAQ about Game - A team is unable to click the “Team Ready” button on their computer. Check the GPS device status (in the “GPS Management” section). The absence of a ”V” symbol indicates that there is no signal. The device might need charging. Restart or assign a new GPS device to the team (click the “Assign New GPS” button). See more here.
- Nothing happens when I click the ”START“ button. This means that not all teams are registered and ready. Remember that each team must have a minimum of 2 learners with registered email addresses. See more here.
- Team movements are not displayed on the screen. Push the “F5” button to refresh the browser (remember to enter the answers again before completing the assignment). If this does not work, check whether the team’s GPS device is still working and has signal (see below).
- A waypoint is inadvertently placed in an inaccessible spot. The team can be moved into the zone manually. This is done on the teacher’s computer by clicking the “Move Team into Post Range” button. See more here.
- Learners claim that they have received zero points for a correct answer. On the teachers computer it is possible to see what answers have been given (see the ”Answer Review” section). Points can be adjusted according to the given situation (see the “Adjusting points” section).
- How to pause a game. Click the “PAUSE“ button on the teacher’s computer. Click the “PAUSE“ button again to resume the game. See more here.
- A team has exited the picture on the main screen. You can change the magnification of the screen with the Autozoom tool (un-check the box for the Autozoom tool and click the “+” and “-“ buttons) and navigate in the map using the mouse.
- Why does our building not show up on the Google Maps image? Are these images old? The images used by Google Maps are 1-3 years old, and are updated routinely.
- Why is the wearing of reflective vests required? Experience has shown that contestants playing the DJEEO game are concentrating on many things (mobile phone, solving the tasks, finding their way), and it is very important to be highly visible in traffic. For safety reasons the vests are strongly recommended and players MUST wear the reflective vests.
FAQ about Gamemaster - What do I do if I don’t have a password for login on Gamemaster? Contact your school's DJEEO master. See more here.
- Why cant I see my subject pack when I try to create a new game? The subject pack should always consist of 16 or 32 closed assignments. Otherwise you cant use them in a game.
- How far does one actually run on a route that is 2km as the crow flies? The full distance of a 2km route would be approximately 3km. In general, one must multiply the distance by a factor of 1.5 to calculate the actual distances covered.
- How many teams can play at once? A maximum of 8 teams can play simultaneously. To include more teams, create a second, simultaneous game.
- How big can the field of play be? In principal, the field of play can be as big as you like. We recommend a field size of 2 to 3 km long.
- What type of image files can I use when I make the subject packs? Your image files must be jpg / jpeg files. We recommend that the size of the file is adjusted, so that they are between 100-200 pixels in height. See more here.
- What is a location assignment? In a subject pack assignments are not assigned a specific waypoint in the course, but that is possible with a location assignment. Location assignments must be made while you create the course. See more here.
FAQ general- What is DJEEO about? DJEEO is a GPS-based orienteering race that creates physically active, engaged students who communicate and use their heads. DJEEO can be used with any subject – as a start-up, an evaluation, or just to spice things up while under way with a subject schedule. You can find out more about DJEEO by watching this insert video clip from the Danish News 2009.
- Why must I pay a subscription fee? The subscription fee covers access to: the two DJEEO platforms, Gamemaster and Game; over 100 subject packs; the support page; and free use of the GPS devices (which use the same telephone network as mobile/cellular phones)
- Is DJEEO a Danish invention? Yes. It was invented by two engineers in the spring of 2007.
- Where can DJEEO be used? Anywhere in the world that has a mobile/cellular network and is covered by Google Maps
- Can one use a walkie-talkie instead of a mobile/cellular phone? On the surface this seems like a good idea, but experience has shown that there are two problems with this approach: 1.Reception becomes inadequate if one of the parties moves indoors; 2. The walkie-talkie channels can overlap one another when several sets are used together.
- Can DJEEO be played indoors? The GPS devices have to be outdoors to provide accurate positioning. Simply put, they must remain under open skies.
- Why is the company called DJEEO? Phonetically, the name is based on the English prefix ”GEO”, which stems from the Greek word for earth - ”yaia”. Inspired by the double O in Google, the name became DJEEO (with double e).
- We would like to try DJEEO. Is it possible to use the game on a trial basis? Yes. Email:

- What are the rules? A team consists of the Agents and a Control Centre that co-operate to solve problems and find their way through the playing field.
